REAL, adopted January 20, 2026, is intended to modernize New Jersey’s environmental land-use rules (Flood Hazard, Freshwater Wetlands, Coastal Zone Management, and Stormwater Management) to respond to climate change by considering risks such as sea-level rise and chronic flooding, and to facilitate climate resilience. Questions and concerns have been raised in many impacted communities.

In this webinar, staff from NJDEP’s Division of Land Resource Protection will provide an overview of key implementation topics for practitioners, engineers, floodplain managers, and local officials to consider when evaluating projects and preparing land use permit applications.

NJDEP encourages the submission of implementation-based questions during registration to further tailor the webinar to participant needs. Questions can be submitted to njleague@njlm.org  with the subject line "DEP REAL Rule Webinar Questions"
